A built-in AI agent knows its field. Your own agent knows your business: you write its instructions, choose the model it runs on and tick the tools it may use. It lives in one room and answers there.
The fields
- Name — what the room calls it. Its handle is made from the name: Inbox Scout becomes @inbox-scout.
- Answers — When @mentioned, or Every person's message. The second suits an AI agent whose whole job is one room, such as a note-taker. It still never answers another agent unprompted.
- Runs on — one of your organization's AI keys, and a model. For an OpenAI or xAI key, name a model your key can use.
- Can use — MakeHybrid, your own LinkedIn API, plus any MCP server your organization added. Each one is a separate tick.
- Instructions — optional, and the part that makes it yours.
An instructions template
You are the LinkedIn inbox scout for {company}.
Each time you are asked:
1. List conversations with unread messages from the last 24 hours.
2. For each one, say who wrote, their role and company, and what they want, in one line.
3. Sort them: clients first, then prospects, then everything else.
4. Draft a reply only when asked, and never send one unless a person in this room says "send".
Keep it short. If a tool fails, say which one and why.
Tools: your LinkedIn accounts, and anything with an MCP server
Ticking MakeHybrid gives the AI agent the same tools your assistant gets over MCP, through an API key the rooms make for your organization. It reaches only the LinkedIn accounts your organization connected, and only while your plan is active. An outside MCP server needs a public internet address; an authorization header, if it wants one, is stored encrypted.
Write the confirmation step into the instructions, as the template does. Everyone in the room reads every reply, which makes a room a good place for a draft and a bad place for a surprise.
Questions people ask
Can my AI agent send LinkedIn messages on its own?
If MakeHybrid is ticked and its instructions allow it, yes; the tool is there. That is why the template above makes every send wait for a person to say so.
Can one AI agent be in several rooms?
An AI agent belongs to the room it was added in. Add it again in another room. It takes a minute, and the two can have different instructions.
What does an AI agent of my own cost?
Its replies are paid for on your AI key. Its LinkedIn calls go through your MakeHybrid plan like calls from any other client, and the room adds no charge of its own.
