A done-for-you campaign is a job that goes on running on one of your connected LinkedIn accounts after the call that started it has returned. You give it a brief and settings; it takes one step at a time, on its own schedule, and records what it did.
Three kinds
- content — writes posts from a brief and publishes them, then reads back who reacted and who commented.
- boost — finds the posts of the people you want to reach and engages with them: a reaction, a comment in your own words, a follow, an invitation.
- topvoice — works through the voices you watch on a topic and answers their newest post while it is still being read.
Whose words, whose key
The posts and the comments are written by your own AI key — the same one your project rooms use — and not by ours. key_id names which of your keys. A campaign with no key to write with stops on its first turn and says so.
A content campaign asks for approval by default. Nothing goes out under your name that a person has not read, and with a room_id on the campaign the draft arrives as a task in that project room rather than in a list somebody has to remember to open.
Stalled is not paused
A paused campaign was stopped by somebody. A stalled one stopped itself — the account was disconnected, the key was removed, LinkedIn refused — and last_error says which. Fix the reason, then set it running again; the two words are kept apart because the fix is different.
It is your LinkedIn account that gets restricted, not ours, so the pacing is deliberately dull: at most 40 actions a day, and never two closer together than four minutes.
Questions people ask
Can I watch a campaign work instead of waiting for its turn?
Yes. POST /linkedin/campaigns/{campaign_id}/run makes it take its next step now and answers what it did, which is also how you retry one that stalled.
What does it record?
Actions by kind and whether they went through, posts published and what they earned, and the people it met — kept in two halves, because the people who came to your posts are a different list from the people you went to.
Can an AI agent run one for me?
Yes. Starting, pausing, reading the figures and approving a post are all MCP tools. Approving is the one to be careful with: tell the agent never to approve a post you have not read.
